Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a research or assessment discipline, students affairs, college student development, statistics, or related field

  • Understanding of the assessment of student services and programs in a higher education context

  • Experience successfully managing multiple assessment/research projects simultaneously, ideally in a higher education setting

  • Three years of experience in data collection, analysis, and communicating results to individuals with a broad range of competencies in research and assessment

  • Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research and experience in survey design, data analysis, and statistical reporting are essential

  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and computer skills with the ability to summarize and present complex analysis of data to varied audiences and constituents

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Student Affairs departments in conducting learning and program outcome evaluation, including planning, data gathering, data analysis, and report preparation with the support of the Student Affairs Assessment Council

  • Conduct and interpret annual surveys and write reports based on the results of these surveys that will benefit the work of staff

  • Design and implement assessment initiatives appropriate to the research question and ensure use of the data in decision-making and program/service evaluation

  • Coordinate the annual report and benchmarking process for the division

  • Coordinate the Periodic Comprehensive Review program for the division

  • Mentor Student Affairs staff as they develop their assessment and evaluation skills, with a particular focus on identifying the appropriate assessment strategy to answer the research question

  • Develop and implement dashboard indicators to inform student affairs practice

  • Serve as a resource person and consultant to individual Student Affairs staff members who are conducting research as a part of their job responsibilities

  • Conduct studies of student needs, characteristics, behaviors, satisfaction and personal development as needed, including research on selected student subgroups

  • Conduct studies of institutional environment and climate as related to students

  • Encourage and conduct research focused on student developmental change, student learning, and the processes through which students make meaning of their college experiences

  • Represent Student Affairs with University assessment initiatives, committees and workgroups. Serve as the Division of Student Affairs’ day-to-day liaison to Institutional Research, Assessment and Planning

  • Participate in university committees, councils, workgroups, and special programming efforts as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned doctoral degree in a research or assessment discipline, students affairs, college student development, statistics, or related field

  • Professional experience in the field of student affairs

  • Experience developing and leading the assessment efforts in a student affairs or academic affairs division

  • Experience leading or contributing to the accreditation efforts in a university setting

  • Experience with the following software packages: Tableau, Maxient, Banner, SPSS and SAS
