Mythics, Inc. Senior Consultant - Fusion Middleware in Vienna, Virginia

Mythics is looking for a highly motivated consultant to provide operational managed services support, troubleshooting and issue resolution for mission critical databases, fusion middleware, applications and related systems. In this role, you will deliver hands-on technical support, including analyzing incidents, system design, deployment and maintenance of software components, applications and systems in support of SOA/ESB, UCM, and other Oracle Middleware related solutions.

You will work as a collaborative member of the Managed Services Operational Support team that is responsible for providing 24x7x365 support to various clients across the country. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to come in and work with a skilled team and attain knowledge of Oracle and other 3rd party vendor technologies. Work location is Remote but may need to go onsite in Columbus, OH, 2-3 days a week.

The candidate for this position must be open to working traditional and non-traditional work week and hours. Willing to work alternate weekends, on-call, and alternate holiday schedules. Must be a team player and willing to work with the team on a 24x7 capacity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively monitor, report, troubleshoot, escalate and resolve technical issues with Oracle and MSSQL databases and associated systems

  • Incident Resolution

  • Review and analyze relevant middleware logs and operating system logs

  • Apply systems analysis techniques and procedures to identify and resolve middleware issues

  • Problem analysis and resolution

  • Root cause analysis and resolution

  • Log support requests with Oracle My Oracle Support and/or Microsoft Support or other 3rd party vendors as required

  • Documenting processes, standards and methodologies for working with client data and systems

  • Developing, updating and maintaining reporting processes and tools

  • Developing, updating documentation and architecture diagrams

  • Develop custom Web Services, Proxies, BPEL Processes, Business Rules, Transformations, Translations, and Reports utilizing available technology

  • Provide technical troubleshooting on issues requiring rapid resolution related to Oracle WebLogic Server, SOA Suite and Service Bus and Web Services

  • Provide Middleware patching as needed

  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technology initiatives

  • Manage day-to-day efforts toward project accomplishments with general direction from senior technical staff

  • Participate in project planning and project status communications

  • The position requires the ability to work individually and in a team environment

  • Prioritization of day-to-day activities and long-term support-oriented tasks is essential

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in computer science, information systems or other related field

  • 2+ years of experience technical consulting or managed services (architecture, design, development, implementation, integration, and/or administration) in a modern middleware based environment

  • 2+ years of experience architecting, implementing, developing, supporting and/or administering environments with one or more of the following technologies:

  • Oracle WebLogic Server 11g/12c

  • Oracle Web Tier (HTTP Server and/or Traffic Director) 11g/12c

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g/12c

  • Oracle BPM Suite 11g/12c

  • Oracle WebCenter Suite (Portal, Content, Document Capture) 11g/12c

  • Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) 11g/12c

  • Oracle Identity & Access Management Suite (OAM, OUD, IdM) 11g

  • Solid understanding of JavaEE, XML, Web Services, Web Servers, and Application Servers

  • Solid understanding of Oracle WebLogic (or other JavaEE AS) architecture and administration

  • Experience with installation and configuration of Oracle Fusion Middleware products in high-availability environments

  • Experience troubleshooting, performance tuning, testing and administration support of Oracle WebLogic Server, JVM, OHS and ADF custom applications

  • Good understanding of systems and software engineering, development, and testing concepts and techniques, including SDLC, unit/integration testing, and configuration management

  • Exposure to database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, DB2)

  • Exposure to XML, XSLT, XPATH and XQuery technologies

  • Basic knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, JDBC, and Oracle DB (not DBA level)

  • Trusted professional who can work in a team environment and who can communicate effectively

  • Proficiency in the use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to prioritize and work with multiple assignments simultaneously

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong dedication to customer service

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience working on an operational support or help desk team

  • Exposure to Service Now, Remedy ticketing system, Atlassian Service Desk or similar tools

  • Any experience with Oracle tools/technologies is a major plus

  • Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata, Exalogic, ODA, Exalytics, Super Cluster, ZFS Appliance)
