Sulzer Chemtech is seeking a Project Manager Lead for our Tulsa, OK facility.

The Project Manager will lead and supervise a team of project managers and document control as well as managing own individual projects. As the order owner this position is responsible for insuring that a complete and accurate scope of supply is defined, internal and external communication and coordination, and for overall contract execution and success of all projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for overall performance of Project Management department. Recruits, selects, coaches and trains Project Managers. Conducts performance feedback, personnel evaluations and raise/bonus recommendations. Establishes departmental and personal goals, objectives and measures. Process owner of Project Management process. Creates, correlates and distributes appropriate department reports.

  • Responsible (IAW Authority Regulation) for project acceptance and for verification that the customer Purchase Order matches the quoted scope of supply, and terms and conditions. Conducts order “kick-off” meetings between APT, Sales, Project Management, and Operations, if appropriate. Has authority (IAW Authority Regulation) to commit the organization on matters concerning performance that are within the scope of supply.

  • Acts as primary liaison between customer and Sulzer Chemtech. Assesses the impact of change requests and revises the project schedule and price as appropriate. Determines the impact created by change requests and communicates information to the customer and all effected internal departments. Works with other company departments to establish production schedule and project delivery priorities. Conducts weekly production meetings.

  • Responsible for daily communications and formal project reviews with the customer, internal departments and management, informing them of milestones, problems, corrective actions, and results. Provides direction to the various functional areas within the organization on their individual contribution within the order’s scope of supply, schedule, and budget.

  • Responsible for maximizing order gross margin through change orders/adders and ensuring that all opportunities are taken to achieve cost reductions for Sulzer Chemtech.

  • Responsible for project closeout report. Conducts gross margin review meetings of selected projects to review original scope of supply, actual versus estimated cost information, change orders, problems, corrective actions, and results. Ensures all appropriate information is sent to Finance and Accounting to ensure timely invoicing and collection.

  • Create and implement (with appropriate support) Automated Project Management program. This system will allow users and customers to monitor project status via the internet, and includes automated reminders of project milestones.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, will consider other disciplines with equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five+ years of project management experience in this or a similar engineered product manufacturing operation.

  • At least two years' experience in supervision is preferred.

  • Prior experience working with SAP is preferred

  • Project Management Certification is preferred, although not required. If not possessed, Project Managers are expected to continue their education toward obtaining this certification.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills, for developing and implementing solutions to problems with assigned projects.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills as required in communicating with personnel in other departments, overseeing the results of their work activities, and accomplishing desired results through others.

  • Computer skills, as required in working with computer-aided design (CAD), word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.

  • Knowledge of contract management requirements including familiarity with terms and conditions of sale.

  • Cost management and general business management knowledge to maximize efficient completion of assigned projects.
