Position Title: Senior Manager, Employee/Labour Relations - International (flexible job locaton)

Job Purpose

Leads and oversees Employee Relations (ER) and Labour Relations (LR) delivery activities ensuring business strategies plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Responsible for leading, overseeing and working with Manager Employee Relations and Assistant Manager Employee Relations within the region to provide leadership, direction and prioritization for all related activities. The focus of this role is to ensure that issues are addressed proactively and managed at the local level to mitigate the potential negative impact of labour and employee relations issues while creating alignment, consistency and accountability in the management of labour and employee relations.

Accountabilities

Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Ensures labour and employee relations issues, questions, and concerns are addressed in compliance with local regulations/laws as well as Bank policies and acts as a subject matter expert to coach ER/LR teams.

Leads Manager Employee Relations who provide expert council and advice, performs fact-finding investigation activities (e.g. interviews, document review, consultation) related to inquiries, complaints, and concerns (e.g. grievance claims, defalcations, irregular practices, sexual harassment) and facilitates conflict resolution where conflict is disruptive to the work environment.

Leads and coordinates Manager Employee Relations to resolve ER cases, and manages escalated or complex case. Provides tools and guidance for People Managers around employee relations management, separations, workplace harassment, etc. using best practices.

Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct.

Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Employee and business unit locations; Colombia, Central America, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic

  • Works collaboratively with internal and external partner groups

  • May engage in preliminary negotiations/discussions with external legal counsel

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

  • Bilingual English and Spanish language fluency is required

  • University degree, with Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation

  • At least 5 years of experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources

  • Expert knowledge of employee relations and labour relations

  • Knowledge of negotiations and collective bargaining process

  • Expert conflict and Alternative Dispute Resolution skills

  • Expert concept knowledge of government policies/legislation

  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to apply sound judgement

  • Strong People leadership skills - extensive experience managing and working with teams across business lines, Countries and Subsidiary Companies

  • Strong communication through report writing and by way of group presentations

  • Ability to multitask while remaining organized; able to set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office products

  • Initiate and influence vendor relationships to maximize value of services

Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel internationally.

Physical work location is flexible.

Bilingual English and Spanish language fluency (written and verbal) is required,

Experience with change management, as it relates to the delivery of Employee Relations Services, would be an asset.
