What You Will Be Doing

SUMMARY: The Marketing Manager / Marketing Analyst will be responsible for managing direct marketing campaigns (catalog and email) from inception to completion including providing input on strategy and analyzing results against goals to improve campaign effectiveness. Works with the e-Commerce Director, Creative Director, Web Merchant and other marketing members to generate the profitable acquisition of new customers and retention and reactivation of existing customers. As the key owner of the customer file, the position is responsible for optimizing customer segments through direct marketing channels, analyzing, reporting, forecasting and budgeting the direct marketing activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Manages the direct marketing and contact plan (circulation / segment plan) to optimize return-on-investment for customer acquisition, retention and reactivation.

Identifies, develops and delivers the execution of high-impact direct marketing campaigns primarily through email and DM catalogs and mail pieces.

Manages all day-to-day aspects of the Direct Marketing program including list selection, working with the creative and copy teams, budgeting, reporting, optimization and vendor management.

Leverages the newly launched Marketing Database (MDB) and analytics tools (Campaign Runner, Tableau), and supports email and catalog marketing as the lead resource on list selection and segmentation.

As a power-user of the MDB, provides ad-hoc analysis and reporting. Gains a deep understanding of all customer segments through research and analysis to influence direct mail and email channel strategy.

Manages all triggered and batch & blast email campaigns.

Responsible for planning and developing the marketing calendar and communications.

Acts as the primary owner of key reporting and analysis, response reporting, ROI estimates and analysis, customer database KPIs including monthly reports, file size (customer retention / loyalty, acquisition, re-activation, etc.), marketing goal tracking, and campaign performance.

Forecasts program performance and partners closely with the marketing leadership team to develop direct marketing program budgets.

Manages test design (including hold-out and A/B split, and multi-variate tests with customer segments, creative and messaging) as well as post-mortem reporting.

Works with the Senior Vice President of Marketing and others to set strategic targets and goals for direct mail programs.

Works with the creative team and copywriter, sales manager, and other marketing and merchandising members to ensure product and channel messaging is effective and compelling.

Completes position-specific training, and engages in continuous development.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or relevant coursework required

5+ years of utilizing both direct marketing databases and executing high-impact, direct-response marketing campaigns (catalog and ecommerce environments preferred)

5+ years of reporting and admin management

Strong analytical skills and eager to use quantitative analysis of results to improve the program

Exceptionally organized, buttoned up and detail oriented; has a sense of ownership with a commitment to continual improvement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong creative insight and brand experience; must be comfortable communicating across diverse audiences

Experience managing marketing automation platforms and interfacing with marketing service providers

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment

Power user of Excel preferred. Strong computer skills, working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)

Experience with EMS (email marketing systems), data flows, and marketing automation tools (such as Campaign Runner and Tableau) a plus
