Institutional Shareholder Services, Inc. Senior Quantitative Associate in Rockville, Maryland
ISS Analytics, the division of Institutional Shareholder Services focused on providing data and analytical solutions to both institutional investors and corporations, is seeking a Senior Quantitative Associate to help leverage ISS’ robust data assets into new insights. We work with high volume and/or non-structured datasets covering responsible investment, corporate performance, board practices, director characteristics, shareholder rights, takeover defenses, executive compensation, proxy voting results, mutual fund N-PX voting analytics, factors related to the audit function, and others. Additional datasets will be added throughout the year. Candidate will be involved in all aspects of the data analysis and quantitative modeling process including methodology selection, data collection and analysis, testing, prototyping, implementation, back testing, and performance monitoring.
Be a member of the quantitative analysis and modelling team in ISS Analytics and help drive and deliver on the team’s growing data analysis, quantitative modelling and back testing agenda.
Participation in maintenance and improvement of dataset and product.
Automate routing procedures like standard data feed, factor back testing and other analytics tasks.
Provide customized data feed to internal or external clients in a timely manner. Be able to communicate with fund managers, front/middle office quantitative analysts and academic professors explaining ISS dataset and solving their problems using ISS dataset and/or understanding our product model.
Evaluating datasets, uncovering hidden pattern for alpha potential, present findings and ideas to management and/or external clients from hedge fund or asset management companies.
Collaborate with product manager, project manager, research team, IT and data collection team on new product evaluation, modelling, implementation and testing.
Must have Master’s degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science or related quantitative fields
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player
Ability to be self-driven and take initiative
Ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task on multiple projects
Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
At least 2 years of recent industry experience (non-intern and within the last 2 years) in statistical or quantitative analysis positions performing code development and programming in SQL and SAS.
Utilizing SAS for statistical modeling
Developing and implementing both cross-sectional statistical models and time series methodologies across common statistical model types (e.g., linear and logistic regression, etc.).
Experience in VBA and Python are preferred but not required.
