Functions/Duties of Position

South PACU (PeriAnesthesia Care Unit) is comprised of 38 patient bays to accommodate pre-scheduled and emergency pre-op and post-operative patients of the South OR. We prepare and recover surgical inpatients and outpatients from general anesthesia, conscious sedation, and monitored care. All RN's work Pre-Op, Phase I and Phase II Post-Op.

Job Requirements


  • External applicants: BSN from an accredited school required
  • Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred
  • This position is not available for new graduate consideration
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications upon hire
  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools such as Epic
  • 2 years current Pre/Post/Perianesthesia Care nursing experience and/or 2 years current critical care nursing experience (within last 6 months); Emergency Dept experience considered
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation


  • 2-5 years experience working in a Level One Trauma Center
  • CPAN, CAPA, CCRN certifications


  • Specialty Experience: 4-6 weeks (variable)
  • Non-Specialty Experience: 8 weeks
  • Resource: 4-6 weeks
