The City of Palo Alto Information Technology Department is recruiting for a web developer familiar with ADA compliance that will report to the IT PMO Manager. This position will be responsible for performing edits to web pages on the City of Palo Alto's content management system (website) with the aim of transitioning the City of Palo Alto Website to WCAG 2.0 (AA) compliance.

This is a Limited Hourly position which is non-union and non-benefited. Position is limited to working under 1000 hours per fiscal year.

Essential Duties

I can do this and make a difference!!

  • Perform HTML edits for WCAG (AA) ADA compliance, for instance alt-tagging images, iframes, etc;

  • Participate in meetings of the City's cross-departmental Website Department Group

  • Work with Web Super-Producers to develop strategies and meet goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Got it!

  • 4 + years web development experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills

Ideal Candidate

I've already done that or have that!

  • Proficient HTML editor (scripting is unnecessary for this position)

  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.0 Standards and ADA Compliance;

  • Excellent soft-skills greatly preferred, e.g. adaptability, emotional intelligence, perseverance, active listening.

  • Effective negotiating and consulting skills.

  • Prior experience working as part of/leading collaborative teams

  • Must demonstrate strong analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills

  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to changes in a quick, professional manner

  • Experience in a public sector agency

  • Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications
