The General Technician provides engineering and installation support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Airway Systems, Power Systems Group. This position provides construction and operation system support for the installation and engineering of various electrical power equipment and fuel systems. This position will travel up to 80% of the time.

n ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES n

n

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

n

Assists in the enhancement and/or maintenance of existing power systems at various FAA facilities.

n

Performs installation of various electrical systems included but not limited engine generators (EG), EG fuel system(s), EG fuel tank(s), Uninterruptible Power Supply(s) (UPS), Static Transfer Switch, electrical distribution equipment, associated power system support equipment such as, power systems control hardware/software, HVAC, physical facility, and lightning protection.

Provides support in the demolition and disposal of current powers system equipment, such as EG, UPS, electrical distribution equipment, fuel systems and fuel tanks.

n

Examines and provides maintenance services for existing powers systems.

n

Aids in the development and preservation of the overall production schedule for project deliverables.

n

Provides technical and administrative support for engineering services. Supports the development of specifications for installation and data documentation used in the Site Survey process.

n

Ensures all safety requirements are met by the FAA and OHSA standards.

n

Coordinates with FAA installation and scheduling requirements for various power and fuel systems.

n

Travels to FAA client sites up to 80% of the time.

n

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

n

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

n

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

n EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE n

n

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or a related field of study preferred; or completion of equivalent technical courses through military service or the FAA Academy and experience in a construction related discipline such as utility installation, general electrical, heavy equipment operation, welding, or mechanical. Must have relevant technical documentation experience based on the position level as outlined below. Relevant experience includes working with engineers and experience in writing / revising technical documentation for electronic / electro-mechanical systems and equipment. Experience on power systems and equipment is preferred, as well as commercial electrical, lightning protection, fuel storage tank nd engine generator.

General Technician - Level 4 (required education + 9 years of experience)

General Technician - Level 3 (required education + 6 years of experience)

General Technician - Level 2 (required education + 3 years of experience)

n

General Technician - Level 1 (required education)

n CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION n

n

CDL License Preferred

n

Obtain and Maintain required state and local licenses for electrical work preferred

n
