Ryder System Sr. Supply Chain Engineer in NAPERVILLE, Illinois

Position Description

This Sr. Supply Chain Engineer is part of a newly established 4PL/LLP services team focused on a single client that has recently grown through multiple acquisitions. The Team is charged with exciting challenge of understanding and documenting current logistics operations processes, systems and resources, as well as designing and implementing improvements for the future.

This is a dynamic position! The Sr. Supply Chain Engineer will be involved in multiple projects and the ideal candidate will be excited to work in a dynamic environment.

Key Deliverables Include:

  • Creating documented Process Maps and Standard Operating Procedures

  • Establishing and standardizing short and long term metrics and KPIs

  • Developing the tools to capture and distribute metrics and KPIs

  • Identifying and documenting savings opportunities, which transition into formalized projects

  • Winning the organizational support to drive change for the customer

Background/Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation preferred

  • Strong competency in Analysis, Data Collection, Process Flow Writing, and SOPs

  • Expert-level knowledge of MS tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity data mining techniques/tools (Tableau, etc.)

  • Extensive knowledge of Transportation Logistics and related processes

  • Experience in Warehousing and Lean Engineering methodologies is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Data collection, analysis, cleansing and preparation for distribution to stakeholders

  • Builds out process flow documents and standard operating procedures

  • Utilizes data mining techniques, tools and KPI output production using tools such as Tableau

  • Develops reports and other standardized outputs

  • Coordinates meetings between the customer, team members, and other supporting cross-functional group members

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum of four years of related experience is required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • MBA and/or Industrial Engineering Masters Degree preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred, attainment is required within 12 months

  • American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification is preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency in: MS Office MS Project and/or AutoCAD, Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Inventory Analyst tools Visio Mapping analysis tools and/or Simulation, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collects data and performs statistical analysis Maps and documents processes

  • Recommends and implements process improvement Redesigns and/or reengineers logistics processes

  • Supports business development and creates efficient designs and solutions

  • Confers with the Engineering and Operations Managers to implement efficient and competitive solutions

  • Manages small and medium size projects

  • Assists in the development and delivery of presentations to customers as part of the sales team effort
