Dow Chemical Supply Chain Scheduler (Level I, II) in Midland, Michigan

Dow Chemical is in the midst of moving several Supply Chain Scheduler roles as a result of growth and a centering initiative to our HQ in Midland, MI. The roles range from 2-6 years, 6-10 years.

This role is responsible for deciding what, when and where to supply for multiple production sites or multiple plants at one site, within a single business or multiple smaller businesses. This includes balancing supply and demand over the operational horizon, to achieve optimum product availability, asset utilization and supply chain efficiencies.

  • Responsibilities: *

  • Generate a time-phased supply schedule to fulfil business requirements in the short-term, while considering plant wide constraints, and meeting inventory and customer service targets.

  • Determine and/or execute the most effective regional or global sourcing rules.

  • Where applicable, implement external manufacturing agreements or execute agreements already in place.

  • Own and operate site or regional planning models (provide functional expertise for model operation; assure most efficient use of information technology).

  • Serve as a local site coordinator/planner for integration of internal demand, utilities or environmental operations at a particular location.

  • Routinely check and track inventory quantity, slow-moving or other inventory statuses and ensures that inventory volumes meet the plan.

  • Issue resolution: *

  • Monitor actual performance versus plan and engage cross-functional efforts to resolve non-compliance.

  • Identify, prioritize and address supply issues (e.g. short-term capacity constraints, product shortage, emergency customer order received, uncovered production requirement, etc.).

  • Resolve issues or exceptions outside the business rules/boundaries and intervene when needed to address performance gaps.

  • Assess feasibility of short-term change requests.

  • Lead collaboration with customer service, manufacturing, logistics, third-party service providers and business partners to meet business obligations in case of unplanned events.

  • Data maintenance and continuous improvement: *

  • Perform maintenance of production parameters (material masters, work centers, routings) to ensure effective planning.

  • Follow best practices, procedures and governance over master data.

  • Support global supply chain initiatives by interfacing with other supply chain personnel in the business and shared services.

  • Basic Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years relevant military experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Preferred Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Mathematics and certain sciences.

  • APICS CPIM Certification or similar accreditation

  • Manufacturing experience

  • 2-10 years of planning or scheduling experience

  • Supply Chain Management, preferably planning and/or scheduling

  • Interpersonal effectiveness, Initiative, Teamwork, Independent decision making ability

  • Strong analytical skills and proactive problem solving

  • Supply Chain Management, preferably planning and/or scheduling

  • Technical proficiency in the use of multiple computer applications and sound analytical skills are necessary.
