The University of Southern California’s Iovine and Young Academy is seeking a Budget Analyst to join its team. The Budget Analyst will work in the Academy’s Business Office to coordinate and provide a wide variety of budget and other business-related services for the school.

Major Job Accountabilities Include:

  • Assists faculty and staff with a multitude of financial transactions including but not limited to purchasing supplies and accounting for travel expenditures and reimbursements. Reviews purchasing requests against budget and university guidelines.

  • Reviews purchasing and travel-card transactions to ensure compliance with university policies.

  • Working with the school’s external business partner, reconciles tuition revenue of the graduate online program in accordance with the master services agreement.

  • Analyzes overall departmental spending versus budget. On a monthly basis, reconciles account balances and activity to university financial system, researching and bringing budget variances to the attention of the supervisor for discussion and resolution. Projects future budget performance based on knowledge of assigned operations.

  • Prepares monthly financial reports.

  • Assists with the preparation of the annual budget.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Occasional overtime may be required.


  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience

  • University budget experience and knowledge of university financial systems

  • Business administration, accounting or related degree

  • Strong computer skills including Excel spreadsheets

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Team oriented, self-motivated, strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines and interact with all levels of management
