The Walt Disney Company Senior Web Application Developer in London, United Kingdom
We are looking for a candidate to fill the role of Senior Web Application Developer on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role reports to the Lead Application Developer and is based in Disney's EMEA head offices in Hammersmith, London.
The successful applicant will work as an integral part of the Disney Destinations International team supporting Walt Disney Travel Company (International) ecommerce platform and portfolio of marketing microsites. They will also work closely with the development team to maintain and update the bespoke ecommerce platform, taking a proactive approach in evolving the back-end technology stack and migrating legacy code across to an ASP.NET framework. The applicant will also advocate integration of technologies and development methodologies to help drive the business forward and ensure a robust, scalable platform.
Drive back-end website development, providing broad technical knowledge to deliver complex solutions across full development life cycle.
Evangelise high-quality code standards, and mentor junior colleagues in best practice approach to developing.
Provide direct input into platform architecture, ideally with experience of complex greenfield web applications.
Write maintainable, scalable, fault-tolerant code, utilizing SOLID principles and OO design/architectural patterns, TDD, etc.
Proactively manage tools, hardware and environments to support development requirements.
Work with team members to identify workflows and services for managing code, from version control to deployment strategies.
Log and troubleshoot errors using appropriate tools.
Proactively research and explore techniques to maintain position at the forefront of technology and enhance future business offerings.
Basic Qualifications :
Extensive digital experience with strong digital portfolio.
Experience with bespoke ecommerce web applications highly desirable.
Experienced and proactive C# developer (ASP.Net, MVC)
Solid experience of SOAP WebServices and RESTful WebAPIs
Competent in use of SQL Server and T-SQL queries.
Experience of .NET ORMs (e.g. Entity Framework, Dapper)
Experience of IOC containers desirable (Autofac, Ninject, etc.)
DevOps experience, with knowledge of CI and automated build tools (e.g. TeamCity, Cake, Octopus, etc.)
Experience with SDL Tridion (or similar enterprise CMS) desirable.
Exposure to message queuing technologies (e.g. RabbitMQ, NServiceBus) beneficial.
Experience with NuGet package manager.
Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g. NUnit, MOQ, Specflow, etc)
Cloud-based programming/hosting experience beneficial (e.g. Azure, AWS)
Practical understanding of HTML/JS/CSS and client-side technologies.
Experience with Agile methodology and SCRUM processes.
Experience with source code management (e.g. Git)
Experience with issue tracking software beneficial (e.g. JIRA)
Comfortable working in small teams, with collaborative outlook and initiative in managing development tools, environments, etc.
Demonstrate experience in working to and achieving project milestones.
Understanding of application/database bottlenecks and performance tuning, and ability to troubleshoot with appropriate tools.
Experience in a development role, either client- or agency-side.
Degree or equivalent in Computer Science (or related field).
