The Forensics Engineer is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, supporting and improving the applications used by Reliability, Tariff, Scheduling, and Market Operators. It is the responsibility of the Market Forensics Engineer to ensure all systems and processes use correct input data and produce accurate results for Operators to base their decisions. The Market Forensics Engineer is also responsible for maintaining the models of Market systems and processes in accordance with SAS70 Modeling controls and Change Control procedures and processes. As such, accurate and effective engineering decision making, sometimes in stressful situations, is required. The Market Forensics Engineer reports to the Supervisor/Manager, Market Support & Analyses. Exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. The employee, however, is expected to work with the minimum amount of supervision as appropriate for the level hired. Essential Functions: Sr. EngineerDevelopment, testing, implementation, and operation support of the future market software including the Day-Ahead (DA) Energy Market, Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC), & Operating Reserves Market with primary focus on co-optimizing the Real-time Market solutions with Operating ReservesObtain advanced proficiency of Operations on the Operating Reserves Market software, Operating Reserves Market functionality, and Operating Reserves Market integration with other software applications and develop test scenarios and other supporting software to validate results of the RUC and DA Market processes. Maintain, update and improve the Market model, Commercial model, Flowgate models and other data sources and tables used by the Reliability, Tariff, Market and Scheduling Systems and make the changes in accordance with the SAS70 Modeling controls and SPP Change Control procedures and processes.Support, develop and improve Operations applications such as Real Time Contingency Analysis, Load Forecast application, Market Flow calculator, Market System, Constraint Manager, Curtailment System and Modeling software.Oversee the research and analysis of issues reported by SPP Staff, SPP Members, non-Members and Market Participants related to results of any of the systems used by the Reliability, Tariff, Market and Scheduling desks and document the findings and report the results back to the requestor.Provide training to other Engineers on Integrated Marketplace software. Engineer II and IDevelopment, testing, implementation, and operation support of the Integrated Marketplace software including the Day-Ahead (DA) Energy Market, RUC, & Operating Reserves Market with primary focus on RUC functions. Obtain intermediate proficiency on the Integrated Marketplace software, functionality, and processes. Maintain, update and improve the Market model, Commercial model, Flowgate models and other data sources and tables used by the Reliability, Tariff, Market and Scheduling Systems and make the changes in accordance with the SAS70 Modeling controls and SPP Change Control procedures and processes.Support, develop and improve Operations applications such as Real Time Contingency Analysis, Load Forecast application, Market Flow calculator, Market System, Constraint Manager, Curtailment System and Modeling software.Work with more senior engineers and management in the research of issues reported by SPP Staff, SPP Members, non-Me mbers and Market Participants related to results of any of the systems used by the Reliability, Tariff, Market and Scheduling desks and document the findings and report the results back to the requestor.Manage/validate Market/Commercial Model Changes.Monitor accuracy of forecasting tools: MTLF, Wind Forecasting, & Parallel Loop Flow Forecasting. Qualifications: Education Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
