Ashland Corporate Quality Supervisor in Lima, Ohio

The Ashland LLC facility located in Lima, OH has a Quality Supervisor position available.

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for all facets of quality assurance as well as laboratory operation including safety, product certification, in process testing, environmental testing, instrument calibration and maintenance, and supplies purchase. The supervisor may design and conduct experiments to assist with process troubleshooting and will manage all outside analyses associated with troubleshooting, and process and catalyst development. The lab supervisor will have primary responsibility for the Site ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, including maintenance of procedures, compliance with procedures and management of internal and external audit activities. The supervisor will lead implementation of the site Strategic Quality Plan and will be part of the overall Ashland Quality organization with regular contact with other site quality management. The supervisor may interact with customers in the event of product questions or customer complaints regarding product quality. The supervisor will assist with data entry into SAP and troubleshooting of system issues. Two laboratory technicians will report to the lab supervisor.

Required Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure lab operations are carried out in a safe manner.

  • Supervise and develop laboratory staff.

  • Certify outgoing product meets product specifications.

  • Keep the Site Quality Management System current and maintain compliance with the system, including correction of any audit findings in a timely fashion.

  • Support operations through in-process testing. Actively participate in plant troubleshooting.

  • Schedule and back up lab technicians during periods of absence.

  • Ensure lab equipment is calibrated, maintained, fit for service and up to date.

  • Manage capital expenditures for the laboratory.

  • Assist with resolution of customer complaints and questions regarding product analytical.

  • Manage external laboratory analysis process and assure compliant sample shipping.

  • Participate in site management via participation in morning meeting, catalyst team, and other initiatives.

  • Participate in management of tolling process for Lima crude THF.

  • Perform special testing to support R&D activities.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering

  • 5-8 years of experience in a laboratory environment

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems, Lean/Six Sigma tools; Green Belt or higher preferred

  • SAP Quality Module experience a plus

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
