Weeks Medical Center Phlebotomist in Lancaster, New Hampshire
40 Hours per Pay
1-2 yrs experience preferred
Collects blood and urine samples, correctly identifies patients, transports specimens and accessions specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS). The phlebotomist also answers the telephone, and provides non-technical support to all laboratory personnel.
Must be BLS certified
Minimum of one-year experience as a phlebotomist
High School Graduate or equivalent GED
English speaking and writing skills required / preferred
Essential Functions of the Job
Required skills and competencies. Has competency checklist been completed with all competencies met (i.e. job skills / knowledge, equipment knowledge)?
Consistently verifies the identity of the patient being drawn and labels all specimens properly.
Following prescribed procedures and using appropriate technique, obtains blood specimens by skin puncture or venipuncture. Performs Bleeding times using proper technique and obtains acceptable results.
Collects STAT and Urgent specimens within the established time frames.
Demonstrates age specific knowledge for procedure being performed.
Collects Blood, Urine and Hair specimens for Legal Purposes.
Establishes and maintains Chain of Custody for Legal Purposes.
Uses Laboratory Information System (LIS) Appropriately and efficiently.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
