Citizens Bank Sourcing Commodity Lead in Johnston, Rhode Island


The Sourcing Commodity Lead will partner with specific consumer operations and commercial operations business owners to identify mid to long term partnership benefits and executing against them to continually improve the value derived from third party relationships.

The Sourcing Commodity Lead will exhibit strong business acumen with a proven track record for success within transformational sourcing environments. The primary focus is to align with operations business groups in a way that results in positive impact to them achieving their business goals, while optimizing value to the overall organization.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing commodity and sourcing strategies / practices for one or more operations sub commodities with an emphasis on credit bureaus

  • Developing negotiation strategies for all levels of contracts from tactical through strategic/complex negotiations.

  • Delivering high quality work product in fast paced working environment under tight deadlines

  • Creating and developing strong working relationships with key internal and external partners up to Executive levels to achieve strategic objectives of the company

  • Working with cross-functional teams to lead sourcing initiatives from start to finish, including RFx events, auctions and contract negotiations

  • Driving innovation related to strategic sourcing and supplier relations

  • Maintaining working relationship with the industry vendor base and industry experts with the objective to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

  • Working with business lines and developing strategic plans that optimize the value derived from third party vendor engagements and mitigating associated risks

  • Analyzing market data, performance data and other key metrics to optimize service performance

  • Utilizing analytical thinking and tools to identify new value-add opportunities (spend, performance or risk related) in vendor contracts

  • Seeking out opportunities to play a role in strategic projects that support the commodity and/or special projects in support of Procurement


Experience and Skills:

  • 4 or more years of relevant sourcing experience in support of Operations

  • Experience leading complex sourcing engagements using industry best practices for sourcing processes

  • Proven success with developing stakeholder relationships at senior levels of an organization

  • Proven success using root cause analysis, reframe and brainstorming techniques to get to high value ideas

  • Deep understanding of contracting in highly regulated industry (Financial Services preferred), including Managed Services contracts, Cloud services, and SaaS deals

  • Experience executing on multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Strong consulting, project management and analytics skills

  • Proficient in client management and change management

  • Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills; excellent listening skills

  • Advanced in negotiation strategy, persuasion and influence techniques

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working with credit bureaus

  • Proven track record of negotiating complex contracts and delivering cost savings


  • BA/BS in supply chain management or business related field

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM
