This management position has responsibility for systems engineering, test development, test execution, validation and support activities for Cargo Systems. The team is composed of systems engineers, reliability/maintainability/safety engineers, test engineers as well as lab technicians and is responsible for synthesizing stakeholder requirements into equipment specifications, verification plans and test solutions for mechanical, electrical, and software systems. This person needs to be an independent worker and team leader who can think creatively and solve problems. This role will report to the New Product Development, Engineering Manager and will be based in Jamestown, ND.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage staff, including interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, mentoring, coaching and providing performance feedback to ensure consistent application of processes and procedures.

• Monitoring and control department expenses, maintenance, and utilization.

• Develops testing strategies and directs preparation and execution of robust and comprehensive test plans, procedures, reports, and schedules.

• Coordinates integrated test activities for mechanical, environmental, EMI, and Power Quality testing.

• Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of test program.

• Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive component and system level evaluations.

• Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.

• Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations that create positive solutions

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in working with customers to develop system and/or equipment specifications.

  • Experience in developing product, production, verification and support system architectures

  • Experience in Functional Hazard Assessments, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and Fault Tree Analysis

  • Experience with test engineering of hardware to meet design requirements.

  • Prior experience in working with and leading technical teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead teams, including coaching and mentoring.

  • Strong continuous improvement, visual workspace, ACE and customer focus with good business acumen.

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to align engineering activities with the business strategy.

  • Good knowledge of project management tools and practices.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Ability to act strategically and tactically to support successful project completion.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new programs / software.

  • Good MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint, MSVisio and MSProject skills

  • Experience in DOORS® or other requirements management software a plus

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategize longer term projects
