Position Summary The position assists the Physical Therapists in carrying out treatment plans which have been established specifically for the patient. The therapist will delegated and provide the appropriate supervision to the physical therapist assistant as required by the education and training level of the assistant.Position Qualifications Required:Certification/Licensure: CPR certification within 2 months of date of hire. Completion of CPR and competencies as outlined by the organizational policies. Education: (a) (1) Graduate from a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA); or if educated outside the United States or trained in the United States military, graduated from an education program determined to be substantially equivalent to physical therapist assistant entry level education in the United States by a credentials evaluation organization approved by the American Physical Therapy Association; and(2) Passed a national examination for physical therapist assistants. On or before December 31, 2009, (1) Graduated on or before December 31, 2009 from a 2-year college-level program approved by the APTA and (2) Effective January 1, 2010 meets the requirements of paragraph (a) above. Before January 1, 2008, graduated from a 2-year college-level program approved by the APTA.On or before December 31, 1997, was licensed or qualified as a physical therapist assistant and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service. Skills/Experience: Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing. Preferred: Skills/Experience: Paid work experience in a healthcare setting in which the applicant has provided direct patient care in a rehabilitation setting. Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids Exercise machines to include but not limited to Fitron, UBE, isokinetic machines; electrotherapeutic modalities computer terminal, power parallel bars, whirlpool, vibrator. Tools include, but not limited to goniometer, tape measure, wrenches, screwdriver, shears. Equipment/assistive devices include, but not limited to: walking aids, wheelchairs, practice stairs, curbs, free weights, swiss ball, wedges, mat table, miscellaneous exercise equipment, standing frame tilt table, stationary bike, hydrocollator and/or cold packs, orthosis, prosthesis.
