The Application Systems Engineer Intern will perform various types of tasks, including: customer support, data collection, testing, and documentation of product features/functions.
The Intern will be a resource to the application engineering group to support their efforts. The application engineering group supports multiple development projects and technologies as they help with the goal of supporting our customers and expanding our customer base and market penetration.
Work with an interdisciplinary team to support technically the FLIR Systems OEMe products (ie Boson, Tau, Quark, Cooled, UAS, and even other vertical divisions within FLIR that use our camera cores). Become an expert in how to operate all these products.
Become familiar with various system level testing procedures, including: MTF, MRTD, response measurements, sw testing, and other camera testing procedures
Support the SBA Cores email account with technical questions from our customer base on our products and technology.
Data analysis and presentation of data/trends to team
Expand our OEMe Knowledge base by documenting our frequently asked questions and improving our product documentation.
Must have graduated or nearing graduation to receive a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ie Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related area of study). Recent graduate desired.
Experience programming in Matlab and/or Python is extremely helpful
Ability to communicate orally in front of customers and large groups and proficient in writing technical documents is desired.
Data analysis and reduction skills - strongly desired.
Some travel may be required as experience increases
Must be a US Person: US Citizen or have Permanent US Resident Status.
