The Physical Therapy Program at Midwestern University, Glendale, Arizona invites applications for a full-time 12 month tenure track faculty appointment. Rank is negotiable and dependent upon applicant’s qualifications. Position responsibilities include teaching in the musculoskeletal rehabilitation tract and physical therapy evaluation, as well as student advising, focused scholarship, and service within the university/community/profession. A startup funding package may be negotiated based on the candidate’s needs and record of scholarly production.
Midwestern University is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides graduate and postgraduate education in the health sciences. Midwestern University has two campuses, one in Glendale, Arizona and a second in Downers Grove, Illinois. The Glendale campus includes the College of Health Sciences, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Pharmacy-Glendale, College of Dental Medicine-Arizona, Arizona College of Optometry, and College of Veterinary Medicine. The College of Health Sciences includes programs in Biomedical Sciences, Cardiovascular Perfusion, Clinical Psychology, Nurse Anesthesia, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Speech Therapy, and Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine. The University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Physical Therapy Program is located in the College of Health Sciences and offers the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, matriculating 54 students each year. The Program is accredited by CAPTE and has 12 faculty members. We anticipate hiring one additional faculty member for a total of twelve faculty members. The Program is housed in Glendale Hall which was completed in 2008 and contains state of the art classrooms and laboratory spaces.
The preferred candidate will have (1) Ph.D. or equivalent post-professional doctorate degree, (2) at least three years of clinical experience in cardiopulmonary physical therapy, (3) eligibility and willingness to secure physical therapy licensure in Arizona, (4) a demonstrated record or potential for scholarly publications and research, and (5) ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Individuals with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and orthopedic specialist certification are also encouraged to submit an application.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance is available.
