Southern Veterinary Partners Veterinary Technician/ Assistant in Gainesville, Florida
The Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. Candidate must possess exceptional communication and technical skills, be highly motivated, detail-oriented, compassionate and dedicated to providing excellent patient care and customer service.
Restraint of canine and felines for procedures
Calculate medication dosages
Draw blood samples and place IV catheters
Prep canines and felines for surgery
Perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
Understand vaccine protocols
Educate clients about various topics such as Heartworm prevention, vaccines, nutrition and other general health related concerns
Care for hospitalized patients and boarding guests
Previous clinical experience and use of Avimark Practice Management Software is preferable but not required.
Minimum of 18 years old.
Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
Has excellent client communication skills.
Physical Effort: Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals. Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.
