Dow Chemical System Performance and Reliability Modeler in Freeport, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a System Performance and Reliability Modeler to be located at one of our major US Dow Manufacturing Locations. The preferred Location is Freeport, TX, but will consider the following locations; Plaquemine, LA or Midland, MI. US Gulf Coast is the preferred location, but will also consider major Dow locations in Europe as well. This role provides technical expertise in Envelope/Reliability/Risk Modeling, Data Mining and Analysis, and Discrete Event Modeling Principles to Engineering and Project Leaders, Business Manufacturing and Maintenance/Reliability Leaders, other Reliability Modelers, Reliability Engineers, Integration Engineers, and Project Engineers within the company.
The intent of this role is to maximize return on business investment through advanced application of Monte Carlo simulation, in particular, for purposes of:
Evaluating capability of existing assets to deliver product at needed rates
Identifying bottlenecks in existing process equipment
Establishing design rates for new assets to deliver specified production rate
Evaluating probable root causes for unplanned events
Optimizing inventory and intermediate storage
Evaluating batch process performance
Identifying batch cycle time reductions
Evaluating trade-offs between capital replacement and potential down-time
Key aspects to the role:
Use of Titan (or alternate tools) to model existing or planned assets.
Project execution – collaborating with asset owners to develop and execute modeling strategy for simple to complex plants, and to develop and deliver against a project schedule
The incumbent will be functionally aligned with the Process Development, Modeling and Optimization Expertise Area in Process Engineering, and, as such, should have a strong background in the application of process modeling technology. Process modeling technology is broadly applied in process technology development and commercialization, technology transfer, process design and engineering, capital project execution, assets utilization, and optimization. This role offers leadership developmental opportunities for other areas of process engineering, reliability, site integration, etc.
The incumbent will be responsible for maintenance, development, and effective delivery of global modeling Most Effective Technology (MET), leveraging it to insure best practices and methodologies are applied to meet Client’s needs.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Process Engineering, Reliability Engineering or related role is required, but prefer 10 years or more.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are critical for success in this role.
Experience with process simulation is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Intermediate (Visual Basic) programming skills are preferred.
Experience with reliability modeling software that incorporates Monte Carlo simulation tools is strongly preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering are preferred.
