JOB DESCRIPTION: Creates and maintains a data dictionary and meta data. Supports efforts to ensure that data standards are developed and maintained. Ensures that the uses of data through reports and queries are accurate. Supports business and system re-engineering and architecture development to define future data needs. Serves as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases by providing expertise to assist users in meeting their needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience in processes and standards related to data OR a bachelor's degree.
Additional Job Details: Supports efforts to ensure that data standards for internal and external reporting are developed and maintained, including the development of data protocols and the documentation of business processes and data standards. Retrieves data from various sources and formats resultant data sets into reports for use by functional and executive users. Ensures accuracy of data, performs data analysis, and writes summary analysis documents. Supports business and system re-engineering and architecture development to define future data needs. Works with users to develop new metrics and analytics in support of evolving business goals. Creates and maintains a data dictionary and meta data. Must possess excellent interpersonal and writing/verbal communication skills.
This position is in the Office of Undergraduate Admission and will report to the Senior Associate Dean. The position will engage in the following primary activities:
Provide data internally for staff members and the Dean of Admission, to key Emory constituencies, and externally to outside recruitment vendors
Develop and sustain a successful relationship with liaisons across campus as well as outside constituents
Maintain and update scheduled applicant status reports
Respond to third party surveys and provide ad-hoc data reporting
Work closely with Admission staff members to support office processes by collecting and analyzing data and making recommendations for process improvements
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in PeopleSoft and Technolutions Slate
Experience with statistical analysis methods and software (particularly SPSS)
Experience with combining data from multiple data sources
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven, team oriented environment with multiple competing priorities
Ability to independently analyze and resolve complex problems
Bachelor’s degree, training in statistics, and two years of experience in processes and standards related to data retrieval and analysis.
