The Assistant Vice President, Market Planning plays a key role in informing future product and service designs for the organization. With a focus on end-user needs and experience, this individual will be responsible for synthesizing

data into insights and hypotheses of potential market opportunities. In collaboration with the Market Planning, Market Research, Product Development, Marketing and Distribution teams, this person will lead ideation, prototyping and testing efforts to validate

the developed hypothesis and to translate the concepts into business requirements and specifications for new product offerings.


  • Gathers and synthesizes inputs from a variety of sources (primary and secondary research, user interviews, employee panels, industry trends, competitive analysis, etc.) to inform customer segmentation, persona development and identification of unmet user


  • Joins forces with Market Planning team members to assess market opportunities and make recommendations regarding target customers and markets, new product concepts, improved design and customer experience offerings

  • Collaborates with Market Research team to execute primary research efforts to inform product and offering development efforts

  • Leads ideation activities utilizing proven and repeatable user-centered design practices to generate new product and service solutions

  • Partners with internal and external resources to develop prototypes of new products and services for user testing and feedback

  • Works closely with Market Research team to design and execute tests of concepts and prototypes to validate approaches and to inform needed iterations.

  • Serves as advocate of new product offerings, working in partnership with Product Development, Marketing, Distribution and Operations teams to ensure successful implementation of new product and service offerings

  • Implements monitoring practices to validate success of new offerings and to inform needed iterations or enhancements

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • 7+ years’ experience in new product development with experience in financial services preferred but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degrees and industry designations or licenses, a plus

  • Advanced knowledge of user-centered design principles and new product development processes

  • Demonstrated ability to identify key insights by connecting disparate information sources

  • Proven ability to influence without authority and to work across teams

  • Experience with AGILE methodology a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with a wide variety of personalities and positions.

  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
