Sinai Health System Nursing Unit Manager in Chicago, Illinois

General Summary/basic PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Unit Manager provides clinical and leadership to defined units, with 24 hr. accountability for the units. Role model for Professional practice. Advances the level of care delivered on the unit. Uses the nursing supervisors to advance quality care and improve employee performance. Works in concert with the medical staff, therapy and other disciplines to provide seamless, exemplary level of interdisciplinary care.

  • Assesses the care of patients to provide teaching and consultation to staff to improve care delivery and assure patient satisfaction.

  • Establishes and enforces written policies and procedures to guide staff practice in collaboration with Nursing leadership and practice council.

  • Assesses and facilitates patient/caregiver interaction and relationships, to assure positive levels of satisfaction and engagement.

  • Actively engages in Joint collaborative practice with physicians and other Interdisciplinary Team members, to advance care of the patient and improve the family experience and meet their expectations.

  • Uses Studer’s concepts and tools to assure for positive clinical outcomes and advancement and achievement of the higher levels of care and customer service

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM Education:

  • MS or MSN preferred; BSN required upon hire or one year of hire.

Requirements/Providing Services to Groups for Specific Ages:

Able to handle and guide staff to resources to assure appropriate care of specific ages

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Leadership ability.

  • Ability to function independently within scope of clinical practice

  • CRRN upon hire or within two years of rehab experience.

    REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:

  • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support: Healthcare Providers, Level C
