This position will assist leading, defining, leading and implementing the Operational Excellence program for all Distribution Operations. Scope of this program can include accountability, management systems, continuous improvement, and employee enablement. Consults with and provides input to senior leadership and other key stakeholders regarding operational excellence initiatives. Demonstrated ability to lead related work groups and cross-functional teams. Frequently coaches and montors other operational excellence specialists.
Development of the program will include outlining standard definition of operational excellence in Midwest, Florida, and the Carolinas. Potential fundamental elements would include sharing of operational experience, assessment, observation programs, event cause investigation, and corrective action programs, development of standards, human performance improvement, and employee recognition.
The drive for operational excellence, with the underlying goal of event-free operation, will require a focused effort on leadership accountability and employee engagement.
Risk identification and benchmarking of operational excellence with other energy companies and industries will also be required; as well as alignment to Duke Energy leadership performance culture and other key corporate initiatives. Lessons Learned must be shared with Distribution personnel and other Duke Energy groups as required.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following
Lead other specialists in the execution of Operational Excellence Program for Distribution. Provide direction and program oversight in the design, development, and delivery of operational excellence solutions for Distribution. Scope can include accountability, management systems, continuous improvement, and employee enablement. Consults with and provides input to senior leadership and other key stakeholders regarding operational excellence initiatives. Lead and supervise related work groups and cross-functional teams. Frequently coaches and mentors other operational excellence specialists.
Accountability, Governance, and Oversight – Supervise and lead specialists establishing the structure and expectations for Operational Excellence across Distribution. Lead role in defining leadership roles and responsibility for implementing the programs.
Continuous Improvement – Lead the development of formal corrective action program, observation program, and assessment program. Ensure that programs / systems are in place to measure, monitor and enhance the programs. As programs matures, scope will include leading the development of benchmarking and lessons learned programs.
Management Systems – Lead specialists in the development of metrics to measure effectiveness of initiatives. Ensure that programs / systems are in place to measure, monitor and enhance the program. Key leader in risk identification and work standard creation activities.
Bachelor's Degree and 10 Years of prior work related experience OR 14 Years of prior equivalent work related experience in lieu of a degree
