On a

typical day you will probably be working as part of a small, focused team doing

one or more of the following:

  • Programming, testing andoperating software at the heart of Oracle's public cloud[0]. You might be:

  • Writing some code in Java8, Go, Clojure/ClojureScript, Python or another modern programminglanguage.

  • Automating life-cycleoperations for your project: build, test, health check, deploy, upgradeetc... on

  • nix platforms.

  • Deploying and operatingyour software in data-centres across the globe.

  • Working withcontainerisation and virtualisation technologies such as Docker, LXC,rkt, KVM or Xen.

  • Participating in thesoftware engineering community at Oracle and beyond. Maybe you will be:

  • Discussing potentialsolutions to complex technical problems and building consensus amongdisparate teams.

  • Collaborating with opensource communities and contributing to open source projects.

  • Learning a new skill ortrying a new way of working.

  • Teaching someone else askill.

  • Developing your ideas byworking in collaboration with some of the groundbreaking customers,startups and universities in Bristol (and customers globally).

We are

flexible about education and experience but we think this role is suited to

someone with a very strong academic record and at least a 1st or 2.1 bachelor's

degree (or equivalent experience) in software engineering/software development,

or similar.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
