Facebook is looking for a Technology Communications Manager to help lead strategic communications programs for Facebook's world-class engineering and infrastructure teams across our local engineering offices. Facebook's engineers help connect billions of people around the world every day — opportunities for impact abound.

The Technology Communications Manager will work as part of the Engineering Communications team, developing campaigns that build Facebook's engineering brand across many domain specialties: machine learning, infrastructure software/systems, mobile development, developer tools, and more.

The successful candidate will have the skills and experience to build and drive effective communication campaigns. Solid news judgment, the ability to find great stories deep in the technology stack, and experience experimenting with new kinds of communications campaigns are musts. This person should be results-driven and able to work well in a fluid environment — Facebook's world-class engineers develop cutting-edge technology at a fast-pace, and new projects can come often. People who love telling stories about amazing new technologies — the deeper in the stack the better — will love this role.

This is a full-time position located at Facebook New York or Facebook Boston.

Required Skills:

  1. Devise and execute major communications strategies and campaigns to support the engineering organization's strategic objectives and brand goals

  2. Develop story ideas and content for multiple communication platforms, including blog posts, social channels, and websites

  3. Support launches, develop and train spokespeople, manage speaking engagements for executives

  4. Proactively drive positive coverage in technical, business, local and national media

  5. Partner with leaders on the engineering management team and consult regularly with cross-functional teams across the company, including international teams

  6. Develop and maintain close relationships with the tech and local media

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a communications or technology-related field

  2. 8+ years of experience in public relations

  3. Experience thinking, planning, and executing autonomously and as part of a team

  4. Interpersonal, project management, and decision-making experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with technology, business, and mainstream media to achieve communications goals

  2. Experience with scale computing technologies, machine learning, and mobile development

  3. Experience working with PR agencies and contractors

  4. Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
