Based in Birmingham, AL, we are are a prestigious Food Manufacturing and Distribution organization. Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Plant Finance Manager to join our Team.

Our ideal candidate will have 8+ years hands-on experience managing and directing financial/process functions of large production facility including the annual financial plan, general accounting, manufacturing systems, capital plan and costing.

What You Will Be Doing

The preferred candidate will be responsible for adherence to Company policies, GAAP and will be responsible for all financial support and reporting functions at the plant. S/He will be required to work closely with department managers providing oversight over internal controls and financial transactions. In addition, this opportunity will provide ongoing reporting and analysis to local Management staff in support of the company profit and growth objectives while Providing the local management team with analysis of financial results and recommendations for improvements.


Responsible for financial functions and reporting of the manufacturing facility to include: G/L, AP/AR, Payroll, Inventory, and supporting Operations Finance when interfacing with IT.

Prepare metrics and monthly forecast of plant performance Communicate with HQ and local management staff and implement corrective action where needed.

Facilitate monthly closings to meet established closing schedule and provide financial notes that analyze variances and forecast accuracy.

Manage Finance staff to provide accurate and timely financial data.

Facilitate the personal growth of accounting staff and provide atmosphere that facilitates a performance culture and promotes job satisfaction. Ensure cross training and backup procedures are in place.

Responsible for preparing annual operating plan and budgets to meet company goals. Establish system costs for packaging facility and adjust through the year as needed.

Audit local procedures to insure all programs follow company policies.

Provide feedback and direction to HQ departments on system or policy improvements to insure effective results.

Work with local management staff and HQ as implementation of JDE software is introduced while facilitating the process and ensuring local personnel is getting training and support as needed for a smooth transition.

What You Need for this Position

Must Haves:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with Plant based Operations experience working with Front line talent.

8+ years experience in a Finance Leadership position within a manufacturing/production environment.

Extensive understanding of accounting and financial processes in a process manufacturing environment.

Strong analytical capability and problem solving skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization.

Strong capability with Excel spreadsheets and familiarity with other systems (JDE) is a key requirement.

Good leadership and interpersonal skills are essential.

Ability to continuously exercise good business judgment and ethical behavior in approaching problem solving, management decisions and recommendations.
