Shire Meeting & Event Lead in Berlin, Germany

The successful candidate will lead the congresses and event team and support our internal customers in DACH to be as effective and efficient as possible in event and congress management.

He/she reports directly to the Head of Commercial Operations DACH. He/she acts as an advisor to the General Managers and all Franchise Heads across DACH.

At the same time, he/she works closely with the whole team to identify, develop, execute best practices, tools, processes.

This role requires substantial leadership, people development, stakeholder management (advising all Country Franchise Heads), project management, communications and influencing skills, as well as professional knowledge in event and congress planning.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Team lead of congresses and event team.

  • Coordinates the team-members to take responsibility for planning, execution and follow up of events and congresses for all franchises

  • Manage sales kick-off and internal meetings in consultation with region leadership team.

  • Budget planning, personnel planning, content planning and communication, implementation of customer requirements, communication with various partners and negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Provide leadership for event project management in collaboration with internal and external partners

  • Ensure all contractual aspects in terms of internal guidelines and policies, legal requirements as well as Shire’s Compliance guidance

  • Travel to support onsite execution and management of key events.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Significant in-house experience of convention/Congresses event planning and coordination

  • Management and team lead experience preferred

  • Demonstrated strong Project Management skills

  • Budget Management experience

  • Experience working with outside vendors required

  • Ability to successfully achieve results in a matrix organization
