Job Summary

Responsible for proactive communication, decision making and the allocation of resources to units/departments on a shift by shift basis consistent with the organizations policies and the CBA. Ensures units/departments are adequately staffed on a shift by shift basis including temporary call offs, approval of overtime, and appropriate utilization of Per Diem and contracted labor.

Two week schedule as follows:

  • Sun 1000-1830

  • Mon off

  • Tue 0400-1230

  • Wed off

  • Thu 1000-1830

  • Fri off

  • Sat 0400-1230

  • Sun 0400-1230

  • Mon 1000-1830

  • Tue off

  • Wed off

  • Thu 0400-1230

  • Fri off

  • Sat 1000-1830

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree preferred.

Licensures and Certifications

Certified Medical Staff Coordinator - CMSC preferred.

Experience

1 year prior experience in staffing within a hospital and or supplemental staffing organization.

1 – 2 years previous experience in a hospital and or the healthcare industry.

Basic understanding of the roles of members of the nursing.

Skills and Knowledge

Basic computer hardware; printer, key board, copy/scanning equipment, telecommunication devices.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to readily master new software.

Ability to sit and or stand throughout shift assignment.

Ability to travel to internal and external customers to plan and problem solve.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Decision Making

Knowledge, understanding, and decision making congruent with Collective Bargaining Agreement(s).

  • Knowledge of Staffing and associated regulatory, facility, and specialty requirements

Ability to exercise judgment and decision making in the allocation of resources consistent with the experience, competencies, CBA’s, and regulatory requirement associated with the respective assignment.

  • Utilization of Technology/Software

Description: Mastery of Information Systems utilized in decision making associated with Staffing.

  • Application of CBA, Benefit Time, and HR policies, Accountable for the implementation of temporary layoff, granting of vacation, and changes in the approved schedule.

  • Systems Complexity/Analysis Understands the relationship between staffing needs and patient census/volume including information on known/pending discharges, transfers and admissions.

  • Productivity and Stewardship

Demonstrates knowledge and application of the relationship between the allocation of resources and productivity and the associated financial implications.

  • Reliable, Accurate, and Thorough Documentation.

  • Maintains thorough and accurate record keeping associated with decision making and the allocation and or reassignment of resources.

  • Communication and Professionalism
