Job Summary/Purpose:

Computer Lab Attendants are available as a resource to students for all COCC technology account questions and who have specific questions regarding computer usage & techniques or who are encountering computer problems while in the labs and over the phone.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide friendly information and assistance to all students, faculty, staff and guests.
  2. Assists lab patrons with use of computer software programs
  3. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  4. Able to follow lab procedures and established work orders
  5. Maintain security and educational atmosphere of the lab
  6. Assist in the cleaning of the lab and general facility maintenance
  7. Basic knowledge of computers
  8. Basic knowledge of COCC Accounts
  9. Willingness to complete all assignments and trainings
  10. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Students majoring in Computer Information Systems or Business preferred

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:


Must be able to reach, bend, lift, stoop, crouch, and perform similar physical functions. Must be able to stand and sit for up to eight hours a day. Must be able to sit at a computer workstation or bend over a workstation to serve staff for extended periods. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working hours are generally regular per the established work schedule. Some schedule flexibility may be required due to the nature of IT functions, as work may occasionally occur after typical hours. Extended standing with some lifting under 10 pounds is performed 50 percent of the time. Lifting of objects up to 50 pounds is performed 20 percent of the time. Computer screen is used more than 75 percent of the time. Must be able to climb or pull self upward, kneel, stoop, crawl, crouch, and guide, feeding materials into proper position. Exposure to safety hazards is encountered one percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Must have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for 2017-18. • Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid. • Successfully pass a background check. • Basic knowledge of computers, the Internet, COCC email, and MS Office.

Special Qualifications:

• Successfully completed CIS 120
