Johns Hopkins University Research Data Analyst in Baltimore, Maryland
The Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality is seeking a full time Research Data Analyst that will collaborate with the study Principal Investigator, faculty, and staff at Johns Hopkins and other study sites to support project planning and implementation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage data-sets/variables and perform data cleaning, including identifying potential problems with study data and collaborating with research team to resolve issues encountered
Perform data analysis and interpret the results. Utilize knowledge of basic statistics and quantitative analysis. Merge, create, and recode variables to prepare data for analyses
Develop data cleaning programs for new forms and run data cleaning programs for existing forms. Develop and implement data quality assurance procedures to ensure validity and reliability of study results
Develop data analysis methodologies, including defining in detail data requirements, data sources and proper data analysis procedures
Make important data analysis methodology recommendations
Have primary responsibility for analysis, interpretation, and reporting
Create analysis data-sets for use by other investigators. Perform analyses on data-sets and document analyses using statistical software packages, analyses include logistic and linear regression
Create/build and maintain databases, records and files. Create tables and figures in publication-quality form summarizing the results of statistical analyses and present results orally to study investigators. Generate reports, charts, and tables and create presentations
Assist with writing reports as well as manuscript writing and submission
Assist in qualitative and quantitative data analysis for manuscripts
Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Three years related experience. Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.)
Technical qualifications or specialized certifications
Experience with database use including Access. Knowledge of STATA or similar statistical software package is required.

Starting Salary Range: $43,871 - $60,402; commensurate with experience

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
