The Office of Human Resources is currently recruiting forthe position of*Human Resources Associate II, Career Development. *This position will have responsibility for providing administrative support to the Career Development Manager. The selected candidate will also serve as back up to the Human Resources front desk, receiving and screening phone calls and visitors.

_Essential Functions:_

Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors. Independently handles procedural and inquiries which do not require technical knowledge or refers callers to others as appropriate.Ensure prompt resolution of all inquiries.

Receives and reads incoming correspondence and information. Summarizes and prioritizes review of correspondences. Screens out items to be handled personally and forwards remainder with necessary background material.

Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with employees and community partner organizations.

Track employee career development activities in PeopleSoft.

Provide administrative support to Career Development Manager (create surveys, send email reminders, coordinates logistics for workshops, schedule appointments for employees seeking career development services).

Coordinate and facilitate introductory computer training programs for Housekeeping and Public Safety.

Responsible for UMBrella Coaching Program logistics/scheduling coordination.

Assist in the implementation of workforce development opportunities.

May conduct intake interviews for employees seeking career development service.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred and can be used to substitute for related experience).


EXPERIENCE*: Four years clerical experience, three years of which must have involved the application of human resources policies and procedures.



*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES*

Ability to create course content/exercises for introductory level computer training in Word, Excel, Outlook or similar programs.

Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.

Skilled in organizing and executing multiple assignments under specific time constraints.

Ability to proofread and edit written documents.

Ability to think and act independently, prioritize tasks and problem solve.

Ability to seek out and utilize supervision process.

Maintain poise and courtesy under pressure.

Handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.

Ability to work as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.

OTHER:Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Based on the duties of this position, selected candidatesare noteligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).


Hirin*g Range: $38,204-$42,000
