JOB DESCRIPTION: Develops, designs and implements programs and activities designed to strengthen ties between a program and its constituents. Develops, markets, plans, and manages the events/activities coordinated through the designated program. Works to increase alumni engagement for a targeted audience through alumni and student programming and events, special interest groups, volunteer programs, affinity programs, and online services. Cultivates and manages relationships with volunteers, board, chapter and affinity alumni organizations. Develops program relationship both within the division, and other campus offices/schools/divisions. May represent the program off campus and manage the integration of activities with other initiatives. Manages a program budget. May manage professional or support staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in public relations or related field and four years of alumni relations, event planning, public relations or other related experience. Effective public speaking skills.

The Senior Associate Director of Alumni Learning Programs reports to the Director of Alumni Learning and Professional Development. He/she is responsible for conceiving and implementing learning programs centered around Emory University faculty in order to provide lifelong enrichment to alumni and promote university’s priorities. This person will serve as the expert on faculty matters and primary liaison between notable faculty and the Emory Alumni Association. This work may be accomplished independently or in collaboration with Emory Alumni Association colleagues as well as division and university colleagues. The Senior Associate Director provides counsel to the Executive Director and Senior Associate Vice President as needed on matters of overall program strategy and operations. Specifically, the Senior Associate Director is responsible for the following areas:
Webinar program featuring faculty and alumni speakers
Digital engagement: Podcasts, curated videos, and other virtual outlets to showcase faculty and notable alumni
Academic showcase events
Public Scholars Institute partnership
Atlanta Thought Leaders Series
Speakers Bureau: Faculty and Alumni
Academic/Professional Development content within Signature Programs (e.g. Homecoming, Regional Leadership Conference, etc.)
Portfolio of alumni relationships relevant to work
Detailed Description of Duties:
Lead efforts to conceive and implement comprehensive learning programs for alumni in order to accomplish a range of engagement objectives that are aligned with overall EAA and university strategies.
Senior Associate Director will manage a Coordinator who will support all leadership and learning programs
Conceive learning programs for alumni that address a range of academic and general-interest topics. These program will feature thought-leaders throughout the Emory community (faculty, alumni, students, and others) and will offer single-use options, such as on-demand videos or one-time events as well as options that require longer-term participation such as mini-courses. These programs will account for a range of channels including online platforms, multi-media communications (print and digital), and regional events. These program will often be developed in collaboration with others and will be aligned with overall EAA and university strategies.
Assess and address learning gaps and designing relevant programs or resources for the alumni community.
Implement professional development programs for alumni that motivate alumni networking and provide career development. These program will feature career practitioners throughout the Emory community (alumni, faculty, staff, and others) and will account for various life stage segments including young alumni, mid-career alumni, advanced career alumni, and alumni who are envisioning a second career as they near retirement. These programs will account for a range of channels including online platforms, multi-media communication (print and digital), and regional events. These programs will often be developed in collaboration with others, especially the Director, Alumni Learning and Professional Development, and will be aligned with overall EAA strategies.
Collaborate and coordinate effectively with a wide range of faculty and administration partners, including senior members of Emory Alumni Association, Office of the Provost, and Communications and Public Affairs.
Develop and execute targeted and/or tiered outreach strategies to effectively market and drive engagement to alumni learning programs. Work in collaboration with communication colleagues on strategy and implementation.
Implement program through effective project leadership and execution. Ensure smooth functioning of projects by creating and/or integrating with project management and coordination systems and by managing project budgets, inventories, and equipment.
Ensure effectiveness of strategies and projects by documenting, reviewing, and analyzing results in coordination with colleagues.
As needed, audit, enter, and query data records and run reports in various databases and software.
Demonstrate effective personnel and team management when collaborating with others. Create a collegial, supportive, and productive work environment.
Serve as a resource for other EAA and division offices that engage alumni by establishing guidelines for the format and content of alumni learning-related projects. Share best practices for alumni learning projects. Provide feedback and assistance when possible on alumni learning projects.
Cultivate a curated portfolio of alumni prospects and volunteers to engage with and/or be featured in alumni learning programs.
Some travel required. This role will travel for events and related reserach as needed.
