Sutter Health Clinical Lab Scientist Full Time Variable Shift in Antioch, California


Providing health care services to nearly 250,000 residents of eastern Contra Costa County, Sutter Delta Medical Center remains the community's only not-for-profit acute care hospital. Its comprehensive services include 24-hour emergency care, surgery, family centers, obstetrics, pediatrics, acute rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, occupational health, physical therapy, intensive care and coronary care. Cardiac catheterization, sports rehabilitation and home health services are also among the medical center's areas of specialized care.

Accurately performs tests as directed I the various sections of the laboratory including Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank Service related to the diagnosis and treatment of our patients by utilizing various medical laboratory procedures. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist correlates and integrates other patient data when interpreting test results. Reports results which are substantiated by the proper use of appropriate quality control systems. Uses professional judgment and has an in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control, and instrument maintenance. Must recognize problems, identify causes, determine alternative methods and solutions. Actively contributes to quality assurance activities and participates in proficiency testing. Adheres to the Code of Conduct set forth in Sutter Delta Medical Center, standards for business conduct policies and procedures. Performs duties in a safe, ethical and honest manner, and promptly and appropriately addresses any potential violations of the Sutter Delta Medical Center standards for business conduct policies and procedures



Bachelors of Science in Biology or equivalent educational training/experience - Required

Previous Laboratory Experience - Preferred

Internship in a Program approved by the State of California - Required


CLS-L - Required


Demonstrated knowledge of accepted clinical laboratory practice and procedures including proper procurement of specimens, handling and disposing of potentially infectious material, and familiarity with California law relating to the practice of medical technology.

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, computer knowledge or skills, scientific principles, quality control, and instrument maintenance.

Demonstrates analytical problem-solving skills.

Demonstrates the ability communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff.

Demonstrates proficiency in performing detailed tasks thoroughly and completely and ability to follow complicated instructions with accuracy.
