Job Summary


A Histology Technician performs testing as assigned as defined by CLIA CFR 42 in the histology area by preparing sections of body tissue for microscopic examination. The Histology Technician processes tissue, imbeds tissue into paraffin, section s tissue into thin preps, places tissue on slides, coverslips tissue, stain tissue, using routine and special stain techniques as directed by pathologist. The Histology technician removes calcium from bones prior to processing, and performs cytological stain room duties as assigned. Assists in gross description processing of tissue by assigning numbers and accessioning specimens as assigned. Maintains accuracy, competency and precision in performance of procedures; performs preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment as assigned; applies principles of educational clinical methodologies; recognizes and acts upon individual needs for continuing education. Displays professionalism in accordance with the HMHCS philosophy and mission; demonstrates the HMHCS values and competencies in the role as a member of the shared lab services health care team.

Qualifications - Minimum


Associate Degree, Histology Technician Certification ASCP (or eligible)

Must be HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certified (or eligible)


Experience preferred.


Hours per pay period: 80

Hours: 5:30am to 2:00pm
