The Commodity Market Analyst position will work within the ASR Global Sugars Group (GSG) and will report directly to the Research Manager. This role will have a specific focus on NAFTA sugar markets. GSG is responsible for purchasing raw sugar for ASR Group’s refineries and managing the associated price risks. ASR must have extensive knowledge of the markets in which it operates; it is the responsibility of GSG analysts to continuously maintain and improve market data in support of vital decision making that will impact the business. The Commodity Market Analyst will be responsible for gathering, organizing and manipulating detailed trade data. In addition, the Commodity Market Analyst will support the Research Manager in the preparation of internal reports and presentations as needed. This is an entry-level role that provides the opportunity for an ambitious and numerate individual to gain exceptional insight into the functioning of one of the world’s most volatile and complex commodity markets and work within a fast paced, market-leading global team.


  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, business, mathematics, agricultural science or economics plus at least 6-12 months of applicable market/data analysis experience (internship experience is acceptable)

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supports the Research Manager in gathering data and data manipulation

  • Originates new sources of primary data and information

  • Assists in the preparation of presentation materials, including written reports, Microsoft Excel based charts and Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows through on tasks in a timely manner

  • Assists in the company’s data collection from USDA, Government Of Mexico (GOM), and other areas of research

  • Assists in data collection for U.S. raw sugar supply & demand reporting

  • Assists in managing refinery specific raw sugar inventory reports
