Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) operates as a field activity of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness). DoDEA's schools are divided into 3 geographic regions: Europe, the Pacific, and the Americas. Each region is currently managed by an Regional Director. Within each of these three regions, schools are organized into districts headed by superintendents. DoDEA is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). DoDEA is globally positioned, operating 172 accredited schools in 14 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA employs approximately 15,000 employees who serve more than 74,000 children of active duty military and DoD civilian families. In this position you will develop and maintain shift schedules, assigns work, and instruct employees in performance of their tasks; gives simple on-the-job training in accordance with applicable local guidance; deals with student misbehavior and discipline issues forwarded by subordinate monitors, informs the school principal regarding disciplinary problems, provides input to employee performance appraisals; and resolves informal complaints. You may perform lunchroom, recess, classroom, and bus monitoring duties. Monitors identifies and reports known or suspected problems, issues, or concerns to the appropriate staff, faculty member, or other official (e.g., military police) in accordance with established policies and procedures. The work may be performed in a cafeteria, a designated lunch site, outdoor or indoor recess area, a bus loading and unloading area, or any combination of these or similar areas

In order to qualify for these positions, you need 6 months of general work experience. General experience is defined as experience working with people.


1 year above high school One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university hours in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.


Combination of education and general experience: To qualify applicants must possess a combination of post-high school education and general experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

  • Locality Pay: Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Locality rates of pay in CONUS will not be used for pay setting when transferring to an overseas/foreign area.
