Provides strategic leadership and planning for Academic Technologies

Implement new and creative ways to deliver curriculum by identifying appropriate instructional technologies, supporting and advancing their use within the university

Maintains an active role in the development and technical support of the tools used to better educate the UMMS students

Manages the team that develops training and learning curriculums for faculty, students and staff

Collaborate with students, faculty, department chairs, and administrative staff within the university to integrate technology into the educational areas of the university

Leads the research and writing of grant proposals to bring in funding for new educational technologies

Provide training for faculty, students and staff in various modes of delivery, as appropriate, to achieve effective use of classroom and online technologies

Assists in implementing and supporting audio-visual equipment in the classrooms

Perform other duties as required


Bachelor's or Master-s degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, related field, or equivalent experience

6 years of progressively responsible managerial/technical experience in Information Technology, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology or related fields

3-5 years at and educational institution preferred

Strong familiarity with blended learning environments

Understand the specific functions of the instructional facilities, and in consultation with the systems engineering and operations team, develop hardware and software solutions to support those functions

Extensive knowledge of best practices in technology applications in teaching and learning, and in the management and leadership of academic technology support services

Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies and innovative instructional design strategies

Experience in integrating new technologies for better learning outcomes for faculty, students and staff

Demonstrated experience in advocating for the use of new learning models to a diverse audience

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to travel to off-site locations

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree strongly preferred

Experience in providing innovative IT solutions

Demonstrated experience with implementation of IT solutions to meet the changing business demands, with a high sense of urgency

Functional knowledge of Immersive-based learning

Experience writing educational and IT grants

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (i.e. Blackboard Learn, Canvas, etc.)

Familiarity with the Agile framework is a plus

Excellent skills in building collaborative working relationships with peers and clients
