TE’s Automotive Americas Business Unit is seeking a highly skilled Stamping Die Engineer to support our Launch projects. This role is will focus on developing, procuring, and implementing new high and low speed dies into manufacturing operations facilities within local and global regions.
The ability to turn design concepts into revenue depends on the capability of our launch teams to execute programs on time, at budget, and with the expected quality and performance levels of our customer. This role will help improve our time to market and to reinforce innovation within our Manufacturing Development Launch team.
Tasks Summary & Responsibilities:
Work with Purchasing and supply base to develop Stamping dies and auxiliary equipment for new automotive product launches including Hybrid electric vehicle markets.
Work closely with Product development groups and quoting new programs to win new business and carry through to production.
Assignments will be to a project team(s) to successfully meet project timing and cost targets for programs of responsibility which include documentation for release of Die to production (PPAP, Quality, Rate, OEE, etc...).
Frequently use and apply sources of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Work is predominantly intellectual in nature.
Lead and participate in Die design reviews with suppliers, internal or external, for purpose of developing a robust product and manufacturing process with internal and external resources.
Responsible for all aspects of Die procurement and development including supplier evaluations, order placement, pre-production tool development, and low volume production development.
General supervision. Work is team oriented, but one often can independently determine and develop an approach to a solution. May exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport as work often can be global in nature. Travel typically between 10-20% locally and globally and can sporadic.
Aware of cultural differences that may exist in business practices and applies them in global interactions.
Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
10 plus years of documented stamping die manufacturing and development experience.
Proficiency in die, tool, and fixture design using CAD (Pro-E/CREO preferred) required
Experience reviewing supplier drawings, die layouts, and designs.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, & Outlook.
Must be a self-starter and have strong team supportive behaviour that works well in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English is required. Having additional language skills in German and Spanish are a plus.
Automotive Industry experience preferred but not required.
- BS Degree in Engineering is required. Mechanical Engineering / Design is preferred.
