Process Engineer - Automation

Position Summary

Due to growth, Catalent is looking to recruit a Process Engineer to join a growing Engineering group at our site in Winchester, KY.

The Process Engineer (Automation) is an engineering position for individuals with engineering experience or equivalent education. This position is responsible for focusing on reliability and equipment improvement.

The Role

Equipment Reliability

  • Works extensively in controls and automation

  • PLCs, Ladder Logic, Programming and Integration on various controls platforms

  • Ability to manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations.

  • Works with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.

  • Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.

  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes: Value-added preventive maintenance tasks, effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems, spare parts programs, technical training programs, etc.

  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Reliability Engineer applies data analysis that can include:

  • Statistical Process Control

  • Reliability modeling and prediction

  • Fault Tree Analysis

  • Six Sigma (6σ) Methodology

  • Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)

  • Provides technical support to production, maintenance management, and technical personnel.

  • Determine equipment required to meet customer demand and critical process parameters

  • Support manufacturing during critical process development work for scaling to commercial process

  • Ability to coordinate and support multiple pieces of simultaneously

  • Requires exemplary communication ability with internal customers, project engineers, and technical staff

The Candidate

  • Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred), or related degrees or equivalent experience

  • 2-6 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Understanding of Automation Controls and PLC

  • Has worked in industrial settings with focus on reliability and equipment improvement

  • Experience with project management or continuous improvement projects preferred
