Your job as Director of Staff Development is to oversee and enhance the entire department, providing meaningful recommendations for improvement, evaluating quality and ensuring our staff has everything they need to be successful. You'll manage and meticulously monitor the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to patients. Plans, revises, coordinates, implements, and evaluates general orientation, nursing skills training, in-service education for employees intended to improve recruitment, retention, professional development of staff in effort to move quality forward and reduce turnover.

  • Work cooperatively with leadership in planning programs to identify and meet training needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains appropriate attendance documentation for training sessions. Evaluate in-service training to develop programs that maintain and enhance nursing employees clinical skills

  • In collaboration with the appropriate center leadership, responsible for recruitment, selection, on-boarding and retention of staff as assigned

  • Ensure HEP-B, TB, Background Checks and Drug Screenings are properly managed and/or administered for the center. May collaborate with the ED and DNS to delegate to the center's staff HEP-B, TB, Background Checks and Drug Screenings but will maintain oversight.

  • Maintains files of lesson plans for all programs taught to employees and ensures training records are retained per company retention policies. Communicates availability of learning opportunities whether on-site, online and external

  • Coordinates general orientation for all new employees beginning the first day of employment; updates general orientation as necessary, utilizing corporate orientation guidelines

  • Ensures completion of Orientation Skills Return Demonstration Checklist on all new nursing employees, validating that new employees are competent to perform resident care tasks they will be assigned prior to providing direct resident care. Provides skill training to any nursing employees that are deficient in skill areas on Orientation Skills Checklist, before allowing the nursing associate to perform the task with a resident

  • Implements education for new initiatives, areas identified in plans of correction, changes in policies or regulatory requirements, and other programs as needed

  • Develop relationships with area healthcare community to support training initiatives

  • Member of local QAPI committee as representative of Infection Control Committee in collaboration with Medical Director.

  • Attend daily stand-up and clinical start-up meetings. Participate with DNS in staffing meetings as needed.

  • Participates as a member of Safety Committee to identify training needs of staff if required by the LivingCenter

  • Coordinate and training support of LivingCenter preceptor program, where applicable

  • Coordinate site approval and clinical rotation for nursing students (ie, schedule for students, develop ongoing relationship with local University), where applicable

Qualifications

  • Licensed RN in good standing and currently licensed by the State in which employed

  • Must hold and maintain a current CPR certification

  • Minimum three (3) years full-time nursing experience

  • Experience in long term healthcare, preferred

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing, preferred

  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including email; ability to learn company software systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Remain current on training and instructional methodologies, including applicable technology resources available

  • Self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented and require minimal supervision

  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, and to meet simultaneous deadlines

  • Knowledge of state, federal and licensing regulations

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient, employee, and company proprietary information

  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels
