We are actively seeking candidates for our Summer 2017 Team who are looking to take a break from the daily grind and step into the peaceful environment of one of the world's oldest national parks.

Our operation features 2 separate areas within the Park - Rim Village and Mazama Village. We have 3 dining facilities, 3 retail outlets, a campground, cabins, and lodge. We also offer daily boat tours for our guests.

Southern Oregon offers diverse recreational opportunities for your days off - we have deserts, rainforests, mountains, marshes, and the Pacific Ocean is only a few hours away. Of course, the gem of the entire region is Crater Lake!

Summary: The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Housekeeping Department, including monitoring time management, budget, and employee performance to ensure quality guest service. This is a hands-on managerial position which requires hard physical work throughout each workday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Performs all duties with the ultimate goal of providing exemplary guest service.

-Knows all duties as described in Guest Room Attendant job description; performs these duties as required.

-Collaborates with Location Manager to develop pre-season set-up and training program to ensure all areas are guest-ready for opening day. Facilitates all staff training prior to opening day and throughout the season.

-Collaborates with Location Manager to ensure closing procedures are followed to ensure proper cleaning and storage of all areas and equipment/supplies for winter.

-Communicates with diverse staff in clear, understandable, positive, and professional manner at all times. Establishes overall tone of the Housekeeping Department by leading with a positive and professional example.

-Develops and facilitates fun and motivational pre-shift morning meeting with staff to foster teambuilding, address any issues, or relay any other necessary communications for the day. Uses this time to facilitate 5 minute Risk-prevention stretching routine; encourages involvement of other mangers or staff.

-Trains, coaches, and develops Housekeeping Lead so they will ensure Company guest service standards, procedures, and timeliness are met every day.

-Ensures all staff are trained in, and follow, National Park Service (NPS) lost and found procedures.

-Writes weekly work schedule to ensure hours and room lists are distributed fairly and consistently amongst staff. Writes schedule to meet all budget objectives.

-Continually monitors staff task completion throughout workday to ensure that all rooms are cleaned to Company standard and guest-ready by set time (as directed by Location Manager). Ensures pre-determined number of rooms are completed at set intervals throughout the day.

-Personally inspects each room to ensure Company standards are met for all Crater Lake guests.

-Maintains constant, positive, and professional communications with all Front Desk staff throughout the day. Ensures all completed rooms are accurately reported in Opera System in a timely manner.

-Addresses all guest complaints or issues in a positive and professional manner.

-Ensures that all Housekeeping Department common areas, including restrooms, grounds, office, linen storage, stairwells, etc., are kept clean at all times.

-Schedules weekly deep cleaning projects.

-Maintains accurate supply and linen inventory list at all times.

-Ensures compliance of all guest privacy and security policies.

-Ensures that staff never uses guest Wi-Fi at any time, on or off of the clock.

-Monitors all pars to ensure rooms and common areas have all required amenities, bedding, and terry at all times. Ensures staff have all chemicals, equipment, and other tools necessary to perform their duties to Company standards at all times.

-Maintains positive and professional communications with Laundry Supervisor, especially regarding linen issues.

-Maintains positive and professional communications with Warehouse Crew and Shuttle Drivers, especially regarding linen deliveries and pickups.

-Maintains open, positive, and professional communications with Location Manager. Addresses any issues and concerns in a timely manner.

-Performs daily one-on-one follow up training with staff to ensure all procedures are being followed in an efficient manner and to assist with any time management issues.

-Ensures Housekeeping Department staff follows all safety procedures, especially as they relate to biohazard items, universal waste, sharps, and other potentially dangerous situations in the workplace. Ensures any mid-season arrival staff member receives appropriate training before beginning work.

-Guides and evaluates employee performance utilizing the How’s It Going (HIG) form at regular and effective intervals throughout the season.

-Ensures all tips are received by the appropriate staff member.

-Reports any illegal or suspicious activity, or violation of Lodging policy, immediately to the Location Manager or Assistant General Manager.

-Submits maintenance requests in a timely manner to ensure quality guest service.

-Guides and addresses employee performance through training, coaching, formal discussion, and/or corrective action per Company policy.

-Performs all duties with consideration of the Company’s environmental commitment, including ensuring that staff are actively participating in linen/terry reuse program.

-Cooperates with Warehouse staff in keeping the Waste Management area clean.

-Monitors the Kronos timekeeping system to ensure accurate time records and budget adherence.

-Performs all duties in a safety conscious manner. Maintains a safe workplace. Reports all safety issues or potentially hazardous situations to the appropriate manager in a timely manner.

-Performs other duties as assigned with positivity and professionalism.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Housekeeping Manager supervises the Housekeeping Lead, Guest Room Attendants, Groundskeeper (Mazama Cabins), and Housepersons (Crater Lake Lodge).

Qualifications, Experience, Physical Demands:

-Prior experience in seasonal hospitality, especially National Park(s), highly preferred.

-Prior experience in Housekeeping, especially in a management/supervisory role, highly preferred.

-Strong organizational skills and attention to finite details required.

-Ability to teach and motivate employees in a positive and upbeat manner.

-Valid U.S. driver’s license required for Mazama Cabins Housekeeping Manager.

-This is a very physically demanding job. Physically able to: repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds; repeatedly twist/bend/reach throughout shift; stand/walk steadily throughout shift; repeatedly kneel or lay flat on the floor as required to inspect under beds; push/pull loaded linen carts, supply carts, and vacuums; work a full shift getting only those breaks as required by Oregon state law; perform all duties in inclement weather; use provided chemicals; work in dusty/dirty environment.
