The Capital Markets Group (CMG) mission is to integrate the management and sourcing of assets and “non-insurance” liabilities through a centralized team focused on pursuing spread businesses within a consistent, disciplined ALM approach. The CMG team is responsible for margin establishment and management, not just the cost of funds associated with each liability. This enhances the profitability through optimization of risks and returns and the avoidance of margin slippage that can result from separation of liability and asset responsibility.

The Analyst position provides the opportunity to develop competencies and expertise in the capital markets and portfolio management functions, specifically:

  • Results: Report and analyze CMG Risk Metrics. Assist CMG portfolio managers and liability traders to optimize liability issuances and reinvest proceeds to enhance margins.

  • Partnerships: Assist in the preparation of internal / external communication materials with Investment areas, Americas Business, Law Department, Treasury, Finance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Investor Relations to achieve continued growth of the CMG.

  • Innovation: Assist and participate in CMG new business development process.

  • Infrastructure: Assist in the development and enhancement of business infrastructure necessary to handle CMG’s business activities.

  • Culture: Contribute to a culture of responsibility and authority, teamwork, creativity and diversity that will help drive the successful completion of the group’s current and longer-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, analyze and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly CMG portfolio risk and analytics reports for the enterprise and to 3rd party clients; Update and review weekly liquidity level and liquidity coverage ratios

  • Prepare reports and presentations required by regulators, rating agencies, and 3rd party clients

  • Participate in annual plan process and assist with the establishment of the plan data and metrics

  • Partner with Investment Finance and CBF Finance to project, analyze and attribute the CMG Pre-tax operating income

  • Assist portfolio managers in periodic and ad hoc portfolio analysis, such as ALM mismatch, CF projection and scenario analysis; Assist portfolio managers in new product development and existing business expansion

  • Participate in the enterprise business infrastructure and technology development projects

  • Assist in communication with business partners on issues such as RBC, EC, FX and derivatives hedging effectiveness

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or relevant working experiences

  • Minimum of a 3.2 GPA

  • Strong analytical skills, computer skills and excellent problem solver

  • Motivated and good team player

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Good understanding of the financial markets, fixed income specifically

  • Strong technical aptitude
