Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Surgery


Responsible for the delivery of evidence-based patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation; responsible and accountable for planning, delegating and coordinating the nursing care rendered to patients, including assessment, interdisciplinary planning, patient and family education and support and the appropriate assignment of patient care to staff while maintaining standards of care.

Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse required.  Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.  Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, regulatory codes, personnel and administrative policies required.  Minimum of 2 years experience as a RN required.   Phase I recovery a plus but not required. ASU Phase II experience strongly preferred. Willingness to cross train through all aspects of the Ambulatory Surgery department, from pre-admission through discharge required.  Must possess the ability to care for surgical and procedural patients and function as part of a team. Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development through continuing education required.  ACLS and PALS strongly recommended.

BLS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:

1.  American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS/PALS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program

2.  American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
