The primary purpose of the position is to supervise and direct all activities of the nursing staff which includes registered nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Nursing Assistants, and Medical Assistants. This position reports to the Clinical Director.

- Directs an ambulatory care nursing department to provide optimal patient care.
- Serve as leave granting authority, evaluates employee performance and other common supervisory duties.
- Assess ambulatory care nursing needs and plan the ambulatory care nursing program around the identified needs.
- Establish policies and procedures for the health centers' ambulatory care nursing services.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
REGISTRATION: All applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of United States. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11 Grade Level: One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Government.
Specialized experience is defined as: Knowledge of nursing concepts, skills and principles necessary to provide professional services including; Assessment and therapeutic skills; teaching principles, pharmaceuticals including their desired effects and complications; medical equipment and skills necessary to use them; diagnostic procedures and tests including their interpretation and performance and counseling skills. Demonstrated management, administrative and supervisory skills necessary to effectively manage nursing services in the medical clinic and to prioritize these services according to patient needs and outcomes. Ability to communicate verbally with individuals and groups from various educational economic, and cultural backgrounds.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR SUPERVISORY POSITION:
Although the paramount requirement for this job have specific subject-matter knowledge and skill requirements (i.e., technical requirements) candidates for this job must also meet certain competencies listed below that reflect those considered as most important for successful performance of Federal supervisory work. Candidates should possess proficiency or the potential to develop proficiency in these competencies prior to entry into a supervisory position.
