HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Registered Nurse (RN) - Stroke in Webster, Texas

The Staff RN on the Medical/Surgical - Stroke Unit assures the delivery of high quality care to all patients. She/he provides a thorough assessment which meets the physical, psycho-social, emotional, spiritual, cultural, educational, age appropriate, and pain management needs of the patient and significant others. The nurse works collaboratively with the physicians, staff and other departments as a team to provide comprehensive care for the patient to promote positive patient outcomes. He/she must always focus on providing excellent customer service for all of our customers, as well as follow the HCA Ethics and Compliance Standards, andMission and Vision Statements.


E1. Responsible for assessing, planning and implementing the admission process.

E2. Responsible for coordinating care and collaborating with other departments to ensure positive patient outcomes and that all of the needs of the patients and significant others are met.

E3. Maintains competency in performing skills as outlined in the Competency Assessment checklist (as appropriate).

E4. Actively participates in quality improvement activities on a daily basis to promote positive patient outcomes. Identifies trends, single significant events and opportunities to improve care, as well as assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of action plans. Works collaboratively with other staff, physicians, and Charge Nurse to constantly improve the quality of care

E5. Responsible for the administration of medications, knowledge of actions, indications, adverse reactions, dosage, and route. Also, must reassess patients for effectiveness of medication and document appropriately.

E6. Coordinates discharge planning/case management services on the unit.

E7. Responds to Code Blue and implements life-saving measures.

E8. Advises on appropriate level of care.

E10. Presents healthcare and aftercare/discharge options.

E11. Coordinates transfer if appropriate.

E12. Obtains, handles and documents various specimens appropriately according to policies and procedures.

E13. Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice.

E14. Maintains clear and respectful communication with patient, family, physician, and other healthcare providers. Practices excellent customer service at all times.


Experience: At least 6 months of RN experience in a hospital or nursing home setting._ _Education: 1. B.S. Nursing preferred. 2. Educational requirements appropriate for meeting all of the needs of the patients and significant others (including physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual, cultural, educational, pain management, and population-appropriate needs).

Special Qualifications: 1. Current Texas licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners as an RN. 2. Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
