Manufacturing Engineer - Direct Hire (Wausau, WI area)


Kelly Services is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for one of their top manufacturing clients in Wausau, WI.

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. They are responsible for commissioning manufacturing equipment and ensuring equipment operates and performs as intended.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty. Essential job functions and duties include, but are not limited to:

Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Implements and manages change controls for projects; lead multidisciplinary teams through all the stages of equipment commissioning projects and/or new product technology transfer from initiation until final approval. Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians and operators. Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special services. Assures product and process quality by designing monitoring and measurement methods; testing process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies


The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are achievable through the following combination of education, work experience and training:

Bachelor Science degree in engineering/manufacturing or demonstrated equivalent experience 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing; comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing operations, equipment and processes. Ability to communicate knowledge to peers and colleagues from other departments requiring a thorough understanding of processes, equipment, and facilities. Knowledge of cGMP regulations preferred. Technical Writing skills and investigations processes. Knowledge of practical use of lean manufacturing concepts and techniques. Good analytical skills and detail oriented. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Must be self-directed, self-starter, and be able to multi-task and prioritize.
